Local storage

KitTok keeps a small record of your finished games in your browser's local storage (not on our servers by default). This lets us show your History, remember that you've already played today's puzzle on this device, and block a same-day replay.

Each saved entry can include, for example:

• the puzzle date;
• an internal kit id;
• the team and year you submitted when you finished;
• your score, win or loss, how many tiles you revealed, and a completion timestamp.

Data stays on this device and browserunless you sign in (see below). If you clear site data for KitTok, use another browser, or another device, that local history won't be there until you play again.

Accounts & cloud history

You can optionally sign in with a passwordless magic link sent to your email address. We use NextAuth for sign-in sessions and SendGrid to deliver the one-time link. Sign-in emails are separate from marketing emails (see Newsletter).

When signed in, we also store on our servers (Neon Postgres):

• your email address (for sign-in only — not shown publicly);
• a display name you choose (shown on the weekly leaderboard and in friends leagues);
• your finished game results, synced from this device so history can follow you across browsers and phones.

Local storage remains the main source for the History page on your device; cloud sync is best-effort. You can edit your display name or sign out from your profile.

Friends leagues

If you create or join a friends league, we store the league name, invite code, membership, and your display name in league standings. League owners can delete a league for all members. Your email is never shown in a league.

Weekly leaderboard

If you are signed in and have a display name, your display name and weekly win points may appear on the public leaderboard. Your email address is never shown there. Rankings reset each Monday (UK time).

Newsletter

We use Brevo to manage our KitTok email list and send updates about the daily puzzle.

You may join the list in two ways:

• optionally submitting your email on the game result screen after a puzzle; or
• creating a KitTok account — your sign-in email is added to the same mailing list when your account is first created.

You can unsubscribe at any time on our unsubscribe page. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails but does not delete your game history or account.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how KitTok is used — for example whether people finish a puzzle, share a result, or come back the next day. This helps us improve the game, not to sell your data or show you ads on other sites.

When analytics is enabled, Google may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP), device and browser type, and custom events like game won, game lost, hint used, game shared, or history shared, or returning user. We don't send your guesses, team picks, or year answers to Google — only aggregated gameplay signals (such as win or loss, score, and tiles revealed).

Google may use cookies or similar technologies as part of this service. Their privacy policy explains how they process data: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.

We also use Vercel Analytics for basic, privacy-focused traffic metrics (such as page views). That is separate from Google Analytics.

Cookies & sessions

Your game history is not stored in cookies — it stays in local storage as described above. However, analytics services (see above) and your hosting provider (for example Vercel) may set cookies or similar technologies when you use the site.

If you sign in, NextAuth sets a session cookie so you stay signed in on this device. You can sign out from your profile page to clear that session.

Terms of use (accounts)

When you create a KitTok account, you agree that:

• you will provide a valid email address that you control;
• your display name will not impersonate others or include offensive or misleading content;
• you are responsible for activity on your account on your devices;
• we may remove or reset display names or suspend accounts that abuse the service or leaderboard.

KitTok is provided for personal entertainment. We may change or discontinue features (including sign-in, sync, or the leaderboard) with reasonable notice where practicable.
